Mondays, I'm excited to return to my dance roots of Modern Dance and will be sharing a beginner Modern Dance class for Latin Dancers. This class will expand your movement vocabulary and help you work within the various fun rhythms of Son, Mambo, Cha Cha cha, AfroPeruvian and instrumentals. How it applies to partner dancing? The various connection to the floor and levels of weighted-ness with, over, across and into the floor matter in how your movement will look and feel. This summer inter-relate all your favorite dance forms to cultivate deeper physical expression with your dancing. FOLKLIFE PERFORMANCE  Sunday May 28th, Mural Amphitheater Balorico will present a new piece set on the Seattle Women's' Steelpan Group inspired by the African spirit of OYA and the strong beautiful women of the group. Performers: interested in exploring a new style? We seek ladies to learn some fun  AfroPeruvian dances for summer and fall performances. Show up for the next AfroPeruvian Dance workshop 5/2 8pm-9:15pm to learn more. We'll focus on this particular style in May and June-  Festejo de Valentina style .  Happy it feels like summer in Seattle!!!

Keep up your defenses this winter with an interactive workout on the dance floor!  Classes : a new 6-week series in Ballroom at 6pm and Salsa On2 at 7pm begins Monday 11/9.   Fridays, we now offer Latin Styling & Footwork at 6pm for salseros wishing to push their conditioning and agility to execute beautiful and precise movement. From 7-8:30pm we offer Adv. Beginner Mambo focused on drilling fundamentals and combination work. Special workshops in November: Meet Kizomba , she’s an infectious Brazilian close-encounter dance rooted in dances from Angola that will leave you wanting more with its catchy rythms and soul. Special workshop with a guest instructor 11/16, 8-9:30pm at K.H. Our next Clave & Musicality percussion & dance workshop is 11/17, 6:30-8pm at the Balorico studio.

Salsa and Latin music lovers, tomorrow we explore the music and the relationship to the dancer. Our monthly workshop with PICOSO percussionist Lalo Bello continues 6:30pm-8pm at the Balorico Studio. We'll focus on Yambu rhythms and 3-2 clave expression. Ballroom Dance & Salsa classes continue Mondays at Kenyon Hall and Fridays at the Balorico Studio. The NEXT group class series begins Friday Nov. 6th and Monday Nov. 9th -save the date! 

Get excited, get moving, who will be your partner this Fall? We begin our 8-week Social Ballroom I course (Foxtrot, Swing, Rhumba, Hustle & Waltz) at 6pm.  Salseros will joint at 7pm for an 8-week progress series focused on drilling Salsa on2 Fundamentals, footwork and musicality as it relates to the Clave rhythms. (We will touch on Cha-Cha-Cha and Bachata to help beginner dancers understand how to translate their training into other Latin dance styles.)  NEW CLASSES IN OCTOBER will run Fridays at the Balorico Studio-6pm Ladies Styling & Spinning class (open level) and Adv. Beginner Salsa on2 will meet 7-8:30pm. (Sorry, no drop-ins). Combo packages available for those that wish to augment their learning with private instruction. Summer is here! We begin our summer dance series July 6th - August 31st in West Seattle. Mondays: Social Ballroom dancing at 6pm includes Swing, Rumba, Hustle and beginner Salsa to help all level of dancers get through those social summer events. At 7pm, we continue Salsa on2 training including  Bachata for 1/3 of the class. (All are welcome- open level class). For the extra motivated dancers: Styling & Spinning at 8pm will be offered as a 4 week series for Latin Dancers looking to improve balance, anatomical alignment and weekly choreography will be ready for you to "perform". Tuesday April 14th we start our special Mas Tumbao Salsa workshop series. Salsa dancers can expect to practice and develop their ear for dancing to the clave and staying on the clave. I'm excited, we'll have live percussion accompaniment. All levels welcome with an "on2" style focus. $25/person. RSVP required, please register by emailing balorico@gmail.com. February is here and we're exploring our relationship to music as a partner. Our Latin Styling class (Mondays@8:10pm) challenges dancers to get past the movement and EXPRESS more. Our Ballroom and Salsa on2 classes are ongoing and its beautiful to see the Seattle community begin to really support dancing on2! Great job SnS with the On2tour celebrations this past weekend. We had a great weekend supporting the on2 salsa community with Roy Ruiz's Amauri Performance Challenge. Not only great fun but the pockets of various salsa on2 dance, dj and promoter communities came together for the love of Mambo! Portland, Vancouver, Tacoma and Seattle were well represented. Valentine's day is for celebrating friendship and good company in dance...remember gift certificates go well with chocolates, dinner and sweets :) We're keeping the dance floor warm with our children and adults classes. The next adults series begins Monday March 3rd-it will be the 9 session challenge in both Ballroom & Salsa.
