Community Dance

It was an eventful Fiestas Patrias at Seattle Center this weekend and happy to have shared some social dance tips with fitness-minded foks.(My favorite was waltzing with my 86 year old partner who stated she dances to stay fit...yeah!) At all stages of life where you have transition in your life-its always movement that keeps you going, keeps you pumped (literally) and allows you to remember there is beauty in our humanity. Give thanks that you can walk, run, leap, jump, turn, spin and dance!

Ballroom Dancing and more!

Whew... A long weekend of activity. The ArtsTime Conference for Dance Educators received us well with our AfroPeruvian Dance & Percussion presentation. Thank you to Ernesto Pediangco of the Pan American Rhythm Band who contributed his expertise. We also had the pleasure of helping CarpeDance welcome Pierre Dulaine to Seattle who is the creator of "Dancing Classrooms" the NYC program that was documented in the film MadHot Ballroom and my former boss. Some things never change (for the good) check out the clip that Lori Matsukawa of King 5 put together for Highland Park Elementary. http://www.king5.com/news/education/West-Seattle-fifth-graders-learning-ballroom-dance-104611494.html
