GIVE THE GIFT OF DANCE

Embrace a new sport....."a bailar !"

We instruct adults and children. Our instructors and community ambassadors primarily dance and teach Salsa on2 known as New York style salsa/mambo and are trained in American Ballroom & Rhythm dances. During non-Pandemic times, we teach from our West Seattle studio at Kenyon Hall, 7904 35th Ave SW and in Capital Hill at Low Down Ballroom.

Ballroom Dancing
New Years Class begins January 7th

TANGO & SWING (January) and PASO DOBLE (February)
Start a healthy habit this New Year and learn Ballroom Dancing.
Our 7-week series includes American Tango and Swing. The dance inspired by Argentinian dancers and musicians has an "open" partnering form that makes American Tango fun with patterns that allow you to disconnect from your partner during moments of the dance. Try American Tango! Dancers will also get a change to learn East Coast Swing, a rhythm dance within the family of American Ballroom dances. No prior experience is required. In February, dancers get to try the contrasting flavors of the dramatic Spanish-influenced Ballroom Dance, the Paso Doble and the elegant Waltz. NO PARTNER NEEDED.
LIVE virtual instruction with Vanessa Villalobos.

Beginners start here, 1/6 -2/16 Sign up here

This is your starting point. Ground yourself in footwork that is the building block for all Salsa partner work. You will gain musicality and virtually learn to connect with others across the screen. Repetition is key, for the best results.
Note: Beginners typically take a good year to establish the basic foundation and feel comfortable on the dance floor. Remember, dancing is a sport, so bring that mindset and be patient with your progress. It is not atypical for beginners to repeat Level I & II courses before diving into Styling, Afro Body Movement and Private Lessons.

This class level is great for former students who have completed at least 8 consecutive Level I class series. Your goal will be to clean up technique, improve timing and drill, drill and drill the advanced beginner through intermediate vocabulary.  This class is progressive and moves at the pace of participants in the class. A short combination ends each class focused on styling for both leads and follows. Heels recommended for follows.

FESTEJO Fusion
LIVE virtual coaching for groups that need some motivational space and movement.

Join Vanessa with this AfroPeruvian traditional style fused with contemporary movement to appreciate the contributions of African descendants on the culture of Peru. Vanessa began her dance training with Peruvian folklore dance training prior to dancing professionally. As a young performer, she toured with Cecilia Bracamonte's folkloric ballet and won the Festejo de Valentina award from Club Peru of Seattle dancing her favorite traditional dance - the Festejo, an AfroPeruvian dance. The tradition of dancing solo in conversation with the drum is a beautiful and empowering expression of femininity, resistance and joy. Vanessa fuses this vocabulary with her contemporary style in unique choreographies for ladies.  We dance bare feet. (Jazz or ballet shoes work too)

AFRO BODY MOVEMENT
LIVE virtual coaching to improve coordination and gain confidence before trying a group class.

Afro body movement is the core of Latin dance. Take a private lesson to help you internalize body rhythms that mirror music from Cuba, Brazil and Peru. We work through various rhythms and start with bare feet. You will be asked to interpret and get outside your head and into your body. Esta class entrena al bailarin para que sepa usar su CUERPO como un instrumento musical.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Are group classes moving too fast or too slow for you?
Consider private coaching

Private lessons advance dancers. Lessons are about your individual learning style. Eliminate the quirks, build confidence, a few private lessons go a long way.
